Considering a boudoir session? Already booked and trying to figure out the next step?
First of all, I just want to say that I am SO frickin’ proud of you. My heart belongs to a world where women don’t feel less-than because they’ve compared themselves to someone in a beauty magazine, or that woman in the yearly Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. It belongs to the women who want to celebrate where they are in this moment. To the mamas whose bodies have created life, the mamas who have loved and lost. To the women who have suffered from the ravages of domestic abuse, divorce, or simply need their voices to be heard.
Whatever reason you want to celebrate yourself – confidence, healing, empowerment, a gift for your love – I am so here for it.
First of all – Treat Yo’ Self.
Pick things to wear for the photos that make you feel sexy. This doesn’t necessarily mean you need all lingerie either. What makes you feel amazing?
I suggest bringing a variation of the following combinations:
I think a cute pair of underwear and bra are essential, and you can build what you pick from there! I can help pick out items but just remember – these pictures are for you! You do you, and you do what you love or what you want!
Some women love wearing their husbands favorite shirt or jersey, and a thong.
I have a client wardrobe with a few pieces in each size, but I usually recommend clients bring a few pieces of their own.
DO invest in at least one cute bra/undies set (black is a great option) that makes you feel super sexy and fits your body type.
DON’T wear anything that is too small and digs into your skin or creates the dreaded “muffin top.”
DO consider normal clothing if you’re nervous about being too revealing, such as off the shoulder tees, cardigans, tanktops, a fitted button-up shirt, or a high slit skirt/dress. Many of these items can be paired with cute undergarments to make a very sexy (but less skimpy) outfit.
DO remember that sometimes no outfit can be the best outfit. Some of my favorite images were photos taken when my client wasn’t wearing anything clothing-related, and simply covered up with a white sheet, towel, pillow, or a prop (sheet & furs provided in studio).
DON’T feel like you have to drop a ton of money on new items for your shoot. Although it can be nice to have one really elaborate piece of lingerie, we can create stunning images with the items you already have in your closet and affordable pieces from amazon.
DO consider accessories. Pearls, long necklaces, gaudy costume jewelry, hats, fishnets or sheer black hose, and most importantly–cute shoes!! High heels are a nice way to extend the length of your legs. But also – again – remember this is for you, so if you’re a barefoot kinda gal, go for it. I love being barefoot and natural.
DON’T’s include – busy patterns, neon colors and costumes
You are beautiful.
You are valued.
You are worthy.
You are strong.
You are brave.
You are badass.
You are enough, as you are, in this moment.
